Asphalt, also called bitumen or chapopote (in some parts of Mexico), is the mixture of pitch, which is a viscous, sticky, lead-colored (dark gray) material with sand or gravel, for paving roads and as a waterproofing coating for walls and roofs.
In asphalt mixes it is used as a binder for the construction of roads, highways and highways. It is present in crude oil and consists almost entirely of bitumen. Tar is a substance that makes up the heaviest fraction of crude oil.
